Our rough cut for our AS Media coursework - in this rough cut for our media we have put together a selection of shots that range from over the shoulder shots to long shots. This has created a two minute film opening for our coursework. During the opening we also used laying and the Ken Burns effect to make an eerie feeling for our research on demonic possession within the actual opening. We learnt that these two effects are commonly used during openings for horror movies. This afternoon we are doing audience research on this rough cut for 'The Mark'. We will be asking people a range of questions on how we could improve on our opening, this is so we can make it more appealing for the audience. This questions we would be asking would be;

  1. What do you like about this opening? (general feedback)
  2. Did it scare you?
  3. What do you think needs changing?
  4. Does it look like a trailer or opening?
  5. Have you noticed any specific editing?
  6. Would you want to watch this film after the opening? Irrelevant if you are scared of horror movies or not.

Makeup shots
This makeup on the actors was completed by George Atkinson and myself. We used a mixture of liquid latex and different coloured paints, this created a very possessed like look.
All the behind the scenes shots were taken by me, as like before on my two previous blogs.

Location shots

Here is a picture of our actress Scarlett who is leaning against the wall in Skipwith basement, as you can see in the camera we have clearly focused a lot on faces. We have got her looking away from the camera, this could have some elements of documentary.

This corridor we used, also in Skipwith basement, to get our actress Louise to stumble down it, we did it so we could see her outline rather than everything else. We used the natural lighting to create a spooky look and also the audience would not see what is coming towards them.

This is the same corridor as the picture before but with all ours actors down it, we have used the flash of the camera so artificial light. This location is very good because it gives the impression they are coming towards you, it is also very small.

Also another shot of Scarlett but from another angle

Also another shot of scarlett but from another angle

This is a shot of our only male actor James, we have focused on his face in this shot, also by the use of the position we angled him in we can see the sign placed on the side of their face with makeup

One of the first shots we took, you can see the blood splattered on the wall which I think is a very good use of mise-en-scene

All of the actors, director and makeup artist is the male location for filming

These are the shots of Cam as he is playing the dad in our trailer. We have got a lot of shots of his feet to create a sense of travelling
